Energy for a Mobile Future – INSYS in the "e-mobility" Project

Bringing electric vehicles onto the roads – RWE is fully committed to this compelling project. The expansion of customer-friendly charging stations will be realised in a number of major German cities this year already.

INSYS MICROELECTRONICS GMBH makes a vital contribution as part of the RWE project team. INSYS uses its many years of experience in professional communication technology for the intelligent utilisation of the ressource electrical power. The success of EV charging station depends primarily on a highly reliable charging and communication structure.

We are working in the project team of RWE on concepts, which are suitable for daily use, for easy (vs. complicated) charging of electric vehicles. As an RWE technology partner, we develop and supply the innovative technology for the RWE charging station.

The charging station communicates via our "Powerline Modem RWE e-mobility PLC" with the electric vehicle. Our "Control Computer RWE e-mobility LSG" manages the individual charging process and can exchange the tariff and consumption data with the clearing center via a secure VPN tunnel using GPRS even at far-flung locations.

Our objective is to play our part in shaping a greener and quieter future.

"Today, many people cannot yet imagine that the electric motor will be a solution to the mobile future. Actually, developments surrounding this topic are already in full swing. Battery manufacturers are working on the latest generation of lithium ion batteries with significantly increased ranges. Vehicle manufacturers are poised to begin series production. Politicians are defining the legislative framework required to get the market up and running. And RWE is also making an important contribution towards the breakthrough of electric cars: RWE is beginning to establish a universal network of charging stations in Germany." Source
